After extensive research on best martial arts schools in the area, I enrolled my 7 year old son. I can not recommend Kovar’s more highly; the instructors are top notch not only in instructing the technical elements but in motivating and encouraging the kids to be the best versions of themselves. In addition to the excellent instructors, the staff members are highly professional, personable and kind. The facility itself is spacious and clean, plus there’s plenty of room for parents and siblings to sit and watch the class. Joining Kovar’s Carmichael is hands down the best decision we’ve made for our son’s physical fitness and social-emotional growth.

Our daughter started training here 5 weeks ago. We were hoping that it would help her mental focus and that's exactly what is happening, in addition to the physical training. Great for kids to learn to pay attention.

Our daughter began her journey into martial arts at the end of 2023. over the next two months, myself and my wife have also began this journey. There are truly not enough words to express the change and improvement in our family, but I'm sure going to try in this review.
The staff and instructors are amazing! The time, care, and firece belief everyone shows is beyond compare. To see our daughter's confidence, belief in herself, and joy she finds each time she goes to class is worth every penny. Kovars also provides a bonding expereince for myself and my wife as we learn together.
For myself, this journey holds a special importance to me. I weas very nervous to try martial arts, being born with Cerabal Palsy. Everyone ( from staff, instructors, and fellow students) immediately made me feel welcome and continue to cheer me on and help me in my martial arts experience.
Kovars in Carmichael is truly a culture of family and togetherness. They have and continue to show a kidness and belief in anyone who is willing or wants to take this journey.

This place is amazing! It's been a year since my son joined the Kovar’s family, and he loves his class. The teachers are wonderful, caring, kind and at the same time disciplined. Not only my son is learning martial arts, he has become more disciplined and his self-confidence has increased. And his anxiety level is much lower than before.

I have trained in this location for a number of years in Krav Maga. The instructors create a safe and encouraging environment for all ages, skill levels, and levels of conditioning. They have an obvious level of proficiency in the curriculum that has been published by the Krav Maga Alliance while still being able to expand with tips on how maneuvers may be applied more effectively. Krav Maga is the quickest route from knowing absolutely nothing about defending yourself to becoming an able combatant in a variety of situations, and each level builds upon the previous one (from learning how to throw a proper punch in level 1 through defending from an armed assailant on the other side of a countertop in levels 5 and 6).Beyond the high quality of instruction, the sense of team and camaraderie that I experience with my fellow students is built quickly and strongly. This is because it is a unique experience that you are sharing with these people and you have to trust them to practice safely just as they must trust you. Class after class of sweating, training and sparring with the same people is a relationship that you can only know if you've been party to it. I have built friendships with these people that I see twice a week for an hour far more quickly than I do with people at work that I see every day for 8 hours.

Excellent place to come in train. Teresa is a very knowledgeable and fun instructor. She does an amazing job helping us drill technique and learn application of different Krav skills. Best gym ever, would highly recommend to anyone looking to get into Krav Maga for self defense skills. Will be a student for life and looking forward to continue the journey to black belt at this gym.

Our kids martial arts program is second to none and has been voted Sacramento’s Top Martial Arts school for over a decade in the Sacramento A-List. Youth classes are broken up into two age groups - Lil' Samurai (Ages 4-7) and Juniors (Ages 8-12).
Teens
Ages 13 to 17
Kovar's Teen Program helps your young adult manage the stresses of school and teenage life. Our classes are a safe space for your teen to have fun and be themselves while developing life skills and good judgment through mental and physical skill-building exercises.
