Harnessing the power of martial arts to combat bullying
No child should have to endure bullying, which is why Hanshi Dave Kovar founded Martial Artists Against Bullying (MAAB) with the goal of using martial arts to put an end to this epidemic. Through martial arts training, children build confidence and become less likely to be targeted for bullying in the first place.
Research indicates that bullying peaks in 5th, 6th and 7th grades. To address this issue, MAAB has developed an entire curriculum of anti-bullying drills and role-playing exercises, small group discussions and empathy training to help children of all ages overcome the negative effects of bullying. Through these strategies, we hope to minimize the prevalence of predatory behavior in younger age ranges. With this program, we aim to bring an end to bullying and make our communities safer for all.
