Moved to Roseville during 2020 and was worried we’d not find a good martial arts school. Learned about KOVAR’S by searching online and they were doing zoom classes since everything was closed down. Kim was amazing at getting our 3 kids onboarded and when things opened back up they’ve all been going 3-5+ times a week in person ever since. They even convince me to take an evening jiu jitsu class that I’ve enjoyed for a couple years now. Great family oriented martial arts school!

As a father I want the best for my daughter. Mixed martial arts was Moon’s idea (my daughter). Moon and I went to a few different dojos feeling everything out. Some places had good “this” and bad “that”, or visa versa. The moment Moon and I walked into Kovar’s - we were BOTH comfortable and relaxed. The environment radiates positive energy, team work, accountability and spirit. Every instructor goes above and beyond with each student and the lessons are much more than kicks and punches, Moon is constantly learning morals and values in every class and she takes the lessons back to school with her and uses what she’s learned. Moon is now an advanced red belt, she justed turned 10 and is on her way to earning her black belt. As a father I couldn’t be happier with Kovar’s.

My son started here at Kovar’s a few months ago. He absolutely loves coming to class. Every instructor is professional and extremely good with the toddlers/preschool age kids in his class (who are significantly harder to coach well and maintain patience with compared to school aged children)
I taught competitive sports for well over 14 years at a high level. Worked with Olympian’s and the coaches who coached them. Take my word for it - the instructors here are excellent.
Caswell has been teaching since I was a child (in fact, he was my instructor)
The very few times I have had to defend myself in the real world, I won the fights in devastating fashion and my aggressors honestly had no idea what happened to them.
From correct striking to discipline and routine, kovars is worth every penny.

I like training jiu jitsu at this location. James Anderson and Charles Jelks are really amazing/knowledgeable instructors. Both James and Charles and super cool. They love to help you learn jiu jitsu genuinely which is a rare feat to find in instructors. This is my favorite place to train to jiu jitsu. Will be coming to this location more often for jiu jitsu and there is honestly no other place I recommend more than here for training.

Our kids martial arts program is second to none and has been voted Sacramento’s Top Martial Arts school for over a decade in the Sacramento A-List. Youth classes are broken up into two age groups - Lil' Samurai (Ages 4-7) and Juniors (Ages 8-12).
Teens
Ages 13 to 17
Kovar's Teen Program helps your young adult manage the stresses of school and teenage life. Our classes are a safe space for your teen to have fun and be themselves while developing life skills and good judgment through mental and physical skill-building exercises.
